I adore people and the life around us more than anything. Many kind souls have come to me and shared their burdens as to not carry them alone. The one theme I noticed over, and over, and over again is that people do not forgive themselves. They ask forgiveness from those they hurt, forgiveness for the opportunities they’ve missed, and most common of all is the deeply rooted hope that one day, their Divine will forgive themselves too.

Yet, these lovely people do not realize that the only person who holds the key to forgiveness is themselves. While it is vital to make amends to the people, places, and things that you can, nothing will free you like your own forgiveness. We are led down specific paths, that in retrospection, are clearly unavoidable. Yes, you could’ve kept that resume flattering job - but you could not have avoided the fact your car was due to break down, and the fact it happened on the way to the most important meeting ended up being a blessing. The fact that those events coincided is not coincidence, it is evidence of friction.

Friction against the life you’re meant to led will only pull you further from your desires, your peace, and the others you’re supposed to meet in this life. Whenever something goes wrong, do not see yourself as the creator of a mistake. Rather, thank the universe for a chance to try something new. What’s meant for you will never pass you, as long as you forgive yourself enough to recognize that.
